I do quite a bit of posting on Gamespot Forums. If you don’t know what Gamespot is, it’s a video game website run by complete jackasses who fire people for giving shitty games shitty reviews…..that is when the shitty game pays Gamespot money.
But that’s not the point. They have forums on there where people talk about all kinds of things. A bunch of nerds pretend they know something about topics like religion, economics, politics, philosophy, music, and life in general. It’s cute really. But I just got suspended…again. This time it’s for 2 weeks! That’s a really long suspension. So what did I do to get suspended? Must be really bad right?
I wrote this: “Atheism is really, really, really dumb…”

Wow, I’m sorry i raped your virgin ears. I can see why this would be somewhat bad if I said atheists are dumb, but I was referring to a concept, not person. So obviously Gamespot is unbelievably strict about posting. So how do they explain these topics which were allowed:
“Christianity is the definition of Hypocriticism.”
“I can’t take this brainwashing cult know as christianity no longer….”
“Does Christianity use fear tactics?”
“christianity and its history of lies/bullcrap (dont start a religious debate!!)”
“Christianity created Global Warming”
“Christianity trial: 2,000 years of wrongdoings”
“Christianity is fake (Proof inside)”
“Christianity is corrupting the minds of the youth”
“Christianity is dumb….imo”
Hmmmmm….Magically, none of these users were suspended, and the topics were allowed to stay up. Mine was locked instantly. Was my thread worse than these. I don’t think so. I was just pointing something out, no hatred or attacks on anyone. Fuck you Gamespot.

Hey, I got suspended too about an hour ago. But it’s for a really stupid reason. You won’t believe it. The thread was about how someone didn’t like sony’s XMB. A person replies with “then go play 360 then” and my reply to that was “lol, i agree.” I got suspended for saying “lol, I agree.” Well, lets be a little more precise. They deleted my comment and sent me a warning for “lol, I agree.” I then went on to another thread to ask people why I got a warning for posting something like “lol, I agree.” Guess what happened next? Gamespot deleted that thread as well, and sent me another warning. I was like “WHAT!!!” I make another thread asking why they deleted my previous threads, and then they suspended me. ughhhhh!!!! I don’t want an apology, I want an explanation. All this because I said “lol, I agree.” Not even three words and I got in trouble. Your not allowed to agree with someone? Ridiculous. Honestly I think Gamespot banned me because they didn’t have an explanation and knew they were wrong from the beginning but rather then saying sorry, they figuring it’d be quicker and less embarrassing to just get rid of me as quick as possible. Gamespot, you suck. I’m never going back to that site again.

I think Moderators are getting out of hand. I came across a forum discussing the newly launched service from sony “HOME”, and came across this comment made by one of the Moderators.

Can you believe this? If we have Moderators going around doing stuff like this what makes you think their not abusing their power on the gaming websites. This is just unbelievable. I am so angry and frustrated not because someone said “home sucks,” but because this came from a Moderator of a gaming website. Aren’t Moderators the one who keeps this kind of stuff from being said? I won’t name the site I found this comment on but I decided to join them because I thought they might be different but now I’m thinking, their just like Gamespot.

True, I guess I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one that felt this way. It just felt good to be part of a community ya know? It was so cool to post something on a forum and get a reply. But then the smart ass remarks starting coming in and that’s when it went downhill. I’m so done with forums. Are you still posting on Gamespot?

2) Because they don’t mod people because of bad content, but because they don’t like what people say.

Yeah, i just got suspended because i quoted a guy that quoted a guy that posted a porn link.
The guy which quoted the porn guy just said “cant you get banned for posting this type of stuff” and then i quoted this guy and said “yes, he can”.
Now i know that is against the rules to do that kind of stuff, but suspension for this isn`t a bit too rough?

i just got permanatly banned for saying that while playing runescape as a non member u can press f11 to go full screen( kinda ) with hd…
they sent me this message.
Your account has been Permanently Banned for major Terms of Use violations. All your privileges have been revoked. As stated in the Terms of Use agreement, if you or an associate account is banned all associate accounts will also be banned. This means any new accounts you register will also be banned. This is what we call Ban Dodging and it is not tolerated. Having a paid subscription does not exempt you from being banned.

I gave a solid review that pointed out all the problems with Halo 3: ODST and it was removed because they felt I was targeting others to make them feel bad. In fact, all reviews that were under 5.0 were taken off. So all the “good” reviews, and the ones where people say the game sucks and still gave it a score of 8, are the ones who got to keep their post because their number helped. I hate this website, it disgusts me.

Gamespot messageboards sucks. No matter what you say, if one person complains about it, the mods will delete your post whether you’re violating any terms of service or not. As I’m understanding it, there’s no way to avoid getting modded on this site, because anytime someone disagrees with your point of view, etc., they will just report you and you will get modded. Ugh.
You have to be really careful in what you say, or else you’ll get modded over there, ESPECIALLY over at System Wars. If someone provokes you, & if you try to shoot back at them, you get modded. If you tell someone about a certain product, such as the PS3 being better than 360, etc., then when someone else comes in making wisecracks, etc., & if you try to own them back & such, you’ll get modded. It’s quite ridiculous. I have never been in this much trouble on any given gaming messageboard (or non-gaming messageboards, even)!
That’s why I stopped posting on there & go to other messageboards elsewhere. At LEAST they let me say whatever I want.

theres a mod on there called dracula68 and hes the biggest cunt ive ever come across on the internet (and i have a youtube account). he blocked my threads for no reason. i posted a thread with the topic title “which console do u think has better exclusives” within one minute he locks the thread for the pitiful reason “starting a fanboy war and causing uneccasery friction” i also got suspended writing a review about dragon age origins, i fairly pointed out the bad points of the game and i get suspended for TROLLING?? WTF. That website is beyond disgusting and I hope all the mods contract aids 🙂

My Account was suspended just because I highlighted that they Reviewed a game wrongly , they are like a bunch of cry babies who get hurt and straight away Ban ppl instead of taking responsibility and correcting stuff , They must be getting paid for reviewing the games the way they do , all this money has gone to their heads and they have stopped thinking about the users

Since I know I did no wrong in that comment. There was no abuse, vulgare or promotion of site i did. I was just making peoples aware of some real world simulator games. There are more than 100 Gamespot members who mensioned this site. But you did this to me. Why so?
I just wrote in GT5 review since peoples complaining about GT5 physics “go to http://www.iracing.com for real driving simulator”
You really made me angry, you will regret one day for what you have done to me.

Gamespot is a disgrace to journalism. Back in the 90’s it was a good place to see how good (or bad) all the latest releases were, but now they don’t bother reviewing any games that aren’t major releases (probably because nobody is paying them to advertise it) and give good to great scores for derivative games (something they used to punish games for mightily) because the publishers help write their employee’s paychecks. Honestly, this was pretty much proven after the whole Gerstmann (SP?) thing, so seeing how GS pretty much embodies everything that is wrong with the video game industry, why go there at all in the first place?
Sites like GS (believe me, it isn’t the only one who does this) really hurt the industry because games that take chances simply don’t get the good scores like “FPS sequel A-Z” can rely on. Video game journalism is a joke, therefore most game are as well. Pretty sad thing to have happen to my once-favorite means of entertainment.
